Assistant Nurse for the Children and Youth Department in Gävle

The Children and Youth Department in Gävle welcomes children and young people aged 0-17 years. We have eleven care places and treat children in the specialties of pediatrics, surgery, orthopedics, ear-nose-throat, and child and adolescent psychiatry. We also have a close collaboration with the pediatric section at the emergency department and the child and youth outpatient clinic regarding day care and specialized home care for children.

We are now looking for an assistant nurse to join our team in the Children and Youth Department in Gävle who wants to complement our team and develop together with us! The position is a longer temporary contract with good opportunities for extension.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

As an assistant nurse with us, you play an important role in providing children and young people with safe, child-friendly, and equitable care. You work in pairs with a nurse and together you are responsible for rounds, care planning, treatments, sampling, as well as both pedagogical and medical preparatory work. Our operations are approved in child-friendly care and we work according to NOBAB standards and the Convention on the Rights of the Child. We also collaborate with other units concerning children in healthcare, such as the emergency department, ICU, neonatal, and the pediatric outpatient clinic.

Main Responsibilities

• Patient responsibility for our pediatric, surgical, orthopedic, ENT, and child and adolescent psychiatry patients both acute and planned
• Assist in examinations, sampling, and care
• Ensure that our children and young people receive good care
• Support parents so they feel secure with the care we provide.

QUALIFICATIONS

We are looking for someone who has good collaboration skills and enjoys working with others. You are proactive, flexible, and easily adapt to different situations. As a person, you are structured and have a good ability to plan and organize your work, even when the pace shifts. You have a service-oriented attitude and approach both colleagues and patients in a friendly, calm, and pedagogical manner. Furthermore, we see that you are a responsive person who always strives to create a safe environment for our children and young people and their families.

For this role, you should be:

• A qualified assistant nurse.

It is advantageous if you have further education in pediatric and adolescent healthcare and/or have experience working in pediatric and adolescent healthcare, including sampling from children.

Information about the title assistant nurse: As of July 1, 2023, the title assistant nurse became a protected professional title. This means that you will need a certificate from the National Board of Health and Welfare to use the title assistant nurse within healthcare and social services.

You can apply for the certificate from July 1, 2023. If you do not have a certificate, you can continue to work in healthcare and social services, but with a different title than assistant nurse. In Region Gävleborg, this means that the title in your employment contract will be Care Assistant until your certificate is submitted.
